WALA is a Melbourne based architectural studio with a keen focus on quality design. We provide architectural, interior and design services across a diverse range of projects. We see every project as an opportunity for a challenge whilst ensuring our work is well received by our clients.

We whole-heartedly believe that design can be exceptional, and that the way to great design is through a collaborative process involving client participation. We believe our clients are central in every aspect of the design and build process. We constantly strive to seek out efficient and effective processes to better benefit our clients.

In residential projects, we pride ourselves for continually striving for high quality design and detailing. Our clients demand nothing but the best and so do we.

Our practice ethos complements a strong desire for quality with a social conscience for sustainable outcomes and community benefit. Our commercial work embodies this belief and we relish the delight our clients get from the finished outcome.

Weian Lim graduated with a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Melbourne in 2009 with honors.

Upon graduating, Weian spent several years at the award-winning practice of Matt Gibson Achitecture+Design before founding WALA.

Over the years of experience at MGA+D, Weian was instrumental in realising many of the firm’s national and international award-winning projects, and his efforts culminated in winning the Best Young Architect Prize at the 2011 Intergrain Timber Award.

In 2012, Weian was honored by being one of five recipients nation-wide to embark on the nationally acclaimed Dulux Study Tour which recognises and rewards emerging Australian architects for their contribution to architectural practice, education, design excellence and community involvement.

By 2014, Weian decided to form WALA to further push his design ideas and apply his experience in Melbourne’s bespoke housing scene to new and exciting projects.

A registered architect in Victoria, Australia, Weian travels regularly to Southeast Asia for projects in Cambodia and Malaysia.
